And no, the bass still aren’t biting

Yesterday, we drove out to Dunpo near Camp Humphreys to try an area of the river where we did real well last year in late April/early May.  To our surprise, there were still areas that were iced over even with the recent warm temperatures.  We tried different spots for about two hours without a single bite before we finally gave up and called it a day - I heard a hot cup of coffee calling my name.  My buddy Rob told me he also went out and tried yesterday without any luck, so it’s probably still a bit too early in the year.  We’re determined to be there when the bass move into shallow water and get hungry though, so we’ll keep going out every chance we get.

It’s just a matter of time now

Some lucky folks are already catching nice bass…not sure where this lake (Gobok) is located, but if the weather stays like it is now and keeps warming up, we should be back in business before too long.

 

Just in case anyone was wondering

like I was, if by chance the bass are biting, the answer is no.  At least not where we tried today.  As you can see in the below picture, the cove we usually fish is still partially frozen over and the water level in the lake is super high right now.
