Hole in one

Have you ever looked forward to something that you want to do very much, but in the end, it doesn’t quite turn out the way you had hoped or thought it would?  Ever since last October, I’ve been looking forward to getting back out on the river and last week, Rob got the ok from one of his friends to borrow his boat. Needless to say, I was psyched and looked forward to getting out into a boat again and had visions of catching bass all day long while cruising up and down the river.

Catch fish we did…for a while, that is.  Right up to the point I noticed that our inflatable boat had sprung a leak.  We got out the foot pump and filled the chamber that was low, but within five minutes some of the air had leaked out again so we took the boat to a nearby island to check it out and found a small tear on the side.  Since we didn’t have a repair kit (not even duct tape), we decided to call it an early day and that, my friends, was all she wrote.  We did get to fish for half a day and the weather was beautiful, once the sun came out and burned off the fog.

    LOL

And I didn’t even have any F4 tape either…not that it would have done me any good.

A-Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

And you were laughing at me for carrying a roll of duct tape in my boat… duh.

  4. 4 Nomad

No, I’m quite sure I never laughed at you. For carrying duct tape, that is.

    Sorry Nomad, that was childish.

Screw the duct tape. The next time I’m out on the water in an inflatable I’m bringing along some Gorilla Tape! LOL

Next time, I’ll go out with Gar…as far as I know, he’s never had to use his roll of tape yet ;).

Gar, please - no apology necessary. It’s all in good fun. I’ll tell you…I was looking all over Ruben’s boat for a roll of that stuff but not a shred to be found. I was saying to Rob, “Who would own an inflatable boat and not have something on board to repair a hole?”

Nomad, according to Ruben, that boat “will not” sink because of the fiberglass bottom in it, but that’s not to say that you and everything you have in it won’t fall out if the sides go flat. LOL

And I’d highly recommend going fishing with Gar. He put me on the biggest bass I caught all year last weekend.
