In a comment on yesterday’s post, James pretty much told me to stop being so one-dimensional with my Senkos. That comment, plus after seeing how thick that green algae was in the river yesterday convinced me to take some Chatterbaits with me this morning. But of course, I started out with Senkos while it was still too dark to see much of anything (plus it was real foggy out there again).
I caught five on Senkos, with the above being the biggest one - the rest were dinks. Once it was light enough to see what I was doing, I changed to a black/blue Chatterbait with a black trailer.
I caught this guy on my third or fourth cast and let me tell you, I was as shocked and surprised as the fish must have been
. Unfortunately, that lure got donated to the river a few casts later so I switched to a chartreuse Chatterbait.
I caught these two fish back to back. I had one more bass take the lure but he jumped and threw it while he was still way out there.
Why, there must be a holiday coming up…and what a better way to spend Chuseok than to go fishing, eh? It was definitely a good morning, once again and yes, if I can wake up, I’ll be back out there again tomorrow, with more Chatterbaits and maybe even some spinnerbaits (and of course, plenty of Senkos
).
LOL Way to go!
Did you try Chatterbaits or spinnerbaits out there at all yesterday? Just curious if this morning was a fluke. And man, that green crap is twice as bad today as it was yesterday…I think it’s all floating down stream because it looks a lot clearer up on the other side of the bridge.
No, but I’ve caught a bunch of bass on them out there before. I don’t think it’s a fluke at all. Maybe this rain that’s supposed to come through later on today will help clear it up a little.
You did much better than I did this morning Nomad, and I WAS throwing a lot of senkos. I only managed one 12 inch bass and managed to lose or miss at least another 6 or so
All but one of the lakes I fish at have almost fully dried up…..so I hope some rain comes soon. In fact one of the ponds have dried up almost completely and there are no fish left. Iguess the cats have had a good feast.
Another thing, there seems to be no green stuff on the waters down here
Ah man that sucks about the lakes drying up…I’m assuming they have no natural creeks feeding them? How about that river you fish from time to time?
I honestly don’t know where all the algae is coming from in the river but it sucks!
All the lakes/ponds have creeks feeding them, but with the lack of rain, the creeks are dried up too
I went to the small river I usually fish with my little inflatable boat on Sunday and banks are sooooo over grown, it looks like a jungle and not possible/easy to fish…..however, the water level in the river is good, which is good news for the winter when I’ll fish with my little boat again
